This page is intentionally written in English so that those who should read it can understand it.
Interwiki Links are very useful for the maintenance of Wikipedia.
There are these kinds of them:
- Inline interwiki links are embedded in normal lines of text. They are rendered where inserted, they have an anchor text, they are 'klickable'. These ones are not futher considered here.
- Links to other language wikis are never rendered inside the article body, no matter what their positioin inside the wikitext is.
If you insert such language interwiki links, please consider the following rules:
- If you are a robot, please take care to use a bot-flagged account.
- Interwiki links should reside at the very bottom of each page, after category tags.
- A single line containing:
<!-- ======== -->should preceede the topmost interwiki link.
- Each interwiki link should reside on its own line.
- They should be organised alphabetically, ascending, by language code.
- The interwiki section should contain links to all existing articles in all languages.
- You can expect authors to be fluent in either German (
de:), or Netherlands (nl:), very often also in English (en:), and neighboring languages, such as Limburgs (li:), Plattdüütsch (nds:), Lëtzebuergesch (lb:), Allemannic (als:). So you can expect hand-edited interwiki links to those languages to be most acurate.
- We have usually pretty sharp & precise Lemmas.
- If several Lemmata here seem to match a page that you are about to interwiki link, you can:
- try to link to an appropriate disambiguation page instead;
- create one, and have it link to the pages you feel appropriate;
- or ask for Help.
- If the best target page you find here is not discriminative enough, you can:
- attempt to split it up;
- ask for Help.
- Do not assume a page titles like "some well known name op some local language" to match — Romeo un Julia op Kölsch is not about Romeo and Juliette. An article about the original, or about a plain translation in one of our languages, would not have op some language in its title. Having that, indicates something being deviant from the well known original, requiring an article on its own.
- Leave a message at the "village pump" or "Embassy" page after any such edit!
